WHAT IS MUSIC THERAPY?

Music Therapy is an established and research-driven health profession in which a credentialed music therapist utilizes evidence-based music strategies within a therapeutic relationship to address the physical, cognitive, and socioemotional goals of individuals of all ages. Music Therapy is an allied health profession, much like occupational, physical, and speech therapy, using music as the primary medium to achieve therapeutic goals.

Research in music therapy supports its effectiveness in a range of areas, some of which include promoting physical rehabilitation and motor skill development, fostering a meaningful outlet for expression, providing socioemotional support for clients and their families, and increasing client motivation to take actively engaged roles in their treatment.

Berkshire Music Therapy provides clinical music therapy services and music programming that aligns with the standards set forth by the American Music Therapy Association. Our services are tailored to each client’s unique and individualized strengths, preferences, and needs. We also offer education and in-service opportunities that are tailored to the specific learning needs of your group.
